nearing the end of the tour. tomorrow is our fourth and final day off amidst the tours, and it's our first day off that hasn't been spent driving a long distance. thursday is the final show. i'm swamped with work to do for the band. all the while, i need my rest time, need to work in a flight to arizona to visit my dear friend sandy, trying to mend another friendship, and desiring greatly to write something. anything. still healing from other hurts, growing, trying to figure things out.
music things to be excited about:
Decemberists release The Hazards of Love next week.
Wilco releases Ashes of American Flags in April.
Jack White has a third band.
Radiohead is working on new material.
Yann Tiersen is coming to Seattle next month.
Wilco releases a new record in June.
Sondre Lerche's working on his new record.
Elton John is playing the key arena... in november.

this is rather new territory, this fiction stuff. of course, i paid my dues in high school with harper lee, charles dickens, e b white, shakespeare, chaim potok, et al. but other than the necessitated adolescent foray, i've shied away from fiction.
still have susan wise bauer to balance me out.
anyhow. was hoping to say something interesting. i guess what i'm getting at is that it's been nearly impossible for me to have my own life on this tour, and now that it's ending, i'm gonna start to dabble in the precious, small things that are not work related, a bit.
but i'm still bootstrappin. :D

and lord of the flies, ah. i read it in 10th grade. i remember i finished on january 13, 2001. i remember the day well because it was the date my crush died of hodgkin's disease. at least he knew jesus.
anyway. hope the last days of tour are wonderful and you get the rest you need.

the book is a work of art.
its biblical fiction... and i'm wary of that kind of fiction.. but this one is a gem.
